What makes Alta different from a typical Nepal trekking company?
Alta is a boutique and comfort-first; handpicked lodges with en-suite bathrooms, dedicated English-speaking guides and photographers. Every trip is designed around comfort, not just reaching a destination.
Should I join a Shared Group Trip, Private Trip, or book a Fully Custom Trip?
Shared Group Trips have fixed seasonal dates, small groups (max 8), and a set itinerary. Ideal if you want everything handled and don’t mind traveling with others. Great for solo travelers, those wanting to make friends or want to see it all in a short week! Private Trips itineraries are flexible to your desired dates (require min 2 people), and also flexible to customize the activities. Fully Custom Trips are private, on your own dates and pace, built around your specific interests. Reach out to us on Whatspp to know more!
How much does a trip with Alta cost?
The cost of your trip depends on the duration of your trip and activities included in your itinerary. Shared Group Trips have set travel dates and activities, and the cost can be found on the trip details page. For Private Trips, we can send you an estimate based on your travel dates and itinerary. Feel free to reach out to us on WhatsApp at anytime.
What's included in the price?
Every Alta trip covers all lodging, domestic travel, and English-speaking guide, breakfast and selected meals, annd all entry permits. More details are provided on your trip details page. Optional add-ons include a private photographer/videographer for your private/custom trip, helicopter charters, optional activities not included in your itinerary, alcoholic beverages, personal shopping and gratuity for your guide and porters.
When is the best time to visit Nepal?
Each season uncovers Nepal’s beauty in different ways. Autumn gives you clear mountain views and Nepal’s biggest festive season, Dashain and Tihar. Winter gives you improved visibility for Jungle Safari wildlife spotting in Chitwan National Park. Spring gives you clear mountain views, best trekking season, and rhododendron and jacaranda blooms that give the country vibrance. Summer gives you white water rafting, best season for city and cultural tours, and a visit to the forbidden kingdom in Upper Mustang, Lo Manthang!
Do I need trekking experience to join a trip?
Depends on the trip you choose! All Alta trips are labeled “Trek” or “Non-Trek”. Non-Trips do not require trekking experience at all, since most of your travel will be through Alta’s private jeep, domestic flight or helicopter flight. Trek trips, however, do require a good fitness level and some trekking experience is recommended. You can find the exact trek difficulty and fitness level required on the specific trek detail page or reach out to us on WhatsApp.
Do you arrange airport transfers and are guides English-speaking?
Your English-speaking Alta guide will be with you from the moment you land in Nepal until you leave for departure. Airport transfers and all domestic travel are covered in your trip price.
